Argyle Selects New Town Administrator
Argyle’s Mayor Donald Moser has announced that Rich Olson will be the Town’s new Town Administrator. He is currently the City Manager of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, a position he has held since 2003.
Olson, who has nearly 40 years of local government experience, worked as the City Manager for the City of Greenacres, Florida, from 1996 through 2001. He then served as Interim Director of Public Works for the City of Delray Beach, Florida, from 2001 until 2003. Olson held other local government management positions earlier in his career in Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado.
Olson holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Colorado, and Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Southern Colorado.
Strategic Government Resources (SGR), an executive recruitment firm based in Keller, Texas, assisted the Town in attracting a pool of 45 applicants from 16 states and the District of Columbia.
According to Moser, “Our search was aimed at finding a highly qualified candidate who is equipped to support Argyle’s transition back to a Type A General Law city status in compliance with state law.” Moser said, “Mr. Olson’s experience in leadership and personnel development are qualities that the town needs as we foster teamwork and a sense of shared purpose by elected leaders and the professional staff serving the people of our town.” Mr. Olson is excited to transition into the Town Administrator position and looks forward to working with town staff and the Town Council on a common vision.
Olson is expected to begin work on September 1, 2020.
