Town Manager Kristi Gilbert announced that Argyle Police Chief Temple Cottle, submitted his retirement effective October 1, 2019.  Cottle was named Chief in April 2018 following the retirement of William “Tom” Tackett in March.  Chief Cottle began his career with the Argyle Police Department in December 1998.  During his tenure, he has served as a Reserve Officer, Officer, Sergeant, Captain and Interim Police Chief.  His service to the Town includes Criminal Investigations, Patrol, Services and Technology.  Chief Cottle and his wife, Deborah, are both charter members of the Argyle Lions Club and have volunteered and served as members of the Argyle United Methodist Church for several years.

“I have had the privilege of working with Temple during his tenure as Chief and have known him for over 17 years,” said Gilbert.  “Argyle is a better community as a result of his professional and volunteer efforts.  While we will miss seeing him daily, I know he will continue to serve the community in other aspects.”

“What an amazing journey it has been serving the citizens of Argyle over the past 20 year” said Cottle.  “The support of the community has been outstanding and I look forward to continuing to serve as volunteers in our hometown Argyle.”

“The Town will be bringing in an Interim Chief in the coming weeks and will utilize the services of a professional municipal recruiting firm to assist in filling the vacancy,” Gilbert said.Temple Cottle
