The Town of Argyle is currently accepting applications for Planning and Zoning Commission and Economic Development Corporation Members for appointment to two year terms beginning in November. Applications can be found here. Please submit your application by Friday, September 29th.
The Planning and Zoning Commission has the power and duty to prepare and recommend for adoption a master plan for the future development and redevelopment of the Town and shall have the power and duty to prepare and recommend a comprehensive plan and zoning ordinance for the Town pursuant to Chapter 211 of the Texas Local Government Code. Additional information concerning the duties and responsibilities of the Commission may be found in Chapter 1, Division 2, Section 1.05 of the Town’s Code of Ordinances. Three positions are up for appointment on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The Economic Development Corporation was established as a requirement of enacting an economic development local option sales tax (0.50%), for the promotion and development of commercial enterprises within the Town and the extraterritorial jurisdiction, as well as for the administration of the economic development sales tax revenue. The corporation consists of seven members, serving 2-year staggered terms who must be either residents of the Town or Denton County. The Town Council may appoint advisory directors who may receive information presented to the directors, attend meetings, but have no vote on matters before the directors. Four positions are up for appointment on the Economic Development Corporation.
