We are aware that residents are receiving telephone surveys with focused questions about Walmart. The Town of Argyle has not participated in or sanctioned this survey. The Community Development staff has had some preliminary discussions regarding a potential Walmart. However, the Town has not received a formal development application from the developer nor has anything been presented to the Planning & Zoning Commission or Town Council for consideration.
In response to increased inquiries about commercial development along Argyle’s Interstate 35 corridor, the Town Council recently adopted an ordinance requiring a Specific Use Permit for buildings 40,000 square feet or larger within the highway corridor. All “big box” applications will be required to go through a public hearing process before both the Planning & Zoning Commission and the Town Council for a vote.
Argyle residents are encouraged to regularly visit the Town’s Community Development page at https://www.argyletx.com/150/Community-Development for the latest information.
