[ARCHIVED] Town Council Updates

Public improvements at Unity Park and economic development projects were among the agenda items the Town Council considered during the March 22 regular meeting at Argyle Town Hall.

Unity Park Improvements

Public Works Director Robert White gave an update on projects the Denton County Master Gardener Association is planning for Unity Park, with the council approving a Monarch Butterfly Garden and Waystation along with a mural for the utility shed. John Ankeny with DCMG will plant several trees throughout the park during the fall months and will hold an educational session for the public to attend.

Cactus Canyon Restaurant Alcohol Waiver

The council approved an alcohol distance waiver for the Cactus Canyon Restaurant being constructed on FM 407 west of The Well Church. The Mexican-themed, sit-down restaurant is owned by local residents and developed by Marty Bryan and the Circle Star team.

Development Agreements

The council approved development agreements with the property owners of the 407BBQ and Shell Station/Sonic businesses located within the Town’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. The agreement includes construction of sewer infrastructure at these locations, removing the businesses from self- sustained sewer systems. Sales tax payments from the businesses will offset the cost to the Town. The overall benefit of the agreements is the ability of the Town to support development and encourage business retention.
